Solange Santos

Assistant Professor at the University of Madeira (Department in Management and Economy, Faculty of Social Sciences), Portugal
Solange Santos holds a Ph.D. in Accounting and a MSc in Accounting and Auditing, both from the University of Minho (Braga, Portugal). She is a member of the Portuguese Certified Accounting Association. She is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Madeira, where she teaches Accounting II, Analytical Accounting, and Corporate Social Responsibility at undergraduate degrees and Accounting and Management Control in the MSc in Management. She also taught Accounting I and Principles of Business Management in several undergraduate degrees and Financial Accounting Complements in a master’s degree in Accounting and Finance at the Higher School of Technology and Management (Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo, Portugal). She also has experience in the business world (in different national and multinational companies), mainly in the area of Accounting, applying Portuguese, Spanish, Brazilian, and US GAAP (generally accepted principles of accounting), and under Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) rules. Having worked directly from Portugal, Spain, and Brazil in a multicultural environment, she considers that the best learning process comes from sharing experiences. Her main research interests are in Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility Disclosure, and, of course, in Accounting.
